I believe as long as they are chipped and comes with proper document, like visa

the aros were illegally imported into the UK without any cites documents etc which made them illegal.

I see...I understand they were flown in...how would they leave Singapore and fly to the UK ( of the size we're talking about ) get picked up in London and then, and only then, get nabbed...sumpin' fishy, seems to me.
