Hi I'm new to the board this is my first post. I bought a baby silver arowana about a month ago, it still had the egg sack when I got it. The sack has disappeared and he has been eating krill 3 times a day. Recently though I have noticed he's been acting funny, swimming wobbly and such and his tail fin and bottom fin have black around the edges and the rest of his fun is brownish yellow where it is normally clear. Any ideas on how I can help him?

Hi, welcome to MFK. Is it possible to get a picture of your baby Aro?

It would also be helpful to know the tanks size, water test results for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH and also any other fish that may be in the tank with him.

Well I just got home and he's lying on the bottom of the tank trying to swim. It's not looking good. He's the only fish in the tank I have him in a 20 gallon right now. I have these dinky test strip that don't work too well but it indicates that there is a trace of ammonia, nitrate levels are in the safe range, nitrite is safe, soft hardness, alkalinity is 80, and pH is like 6.8

Its probably the ammonia then. Do u have any old aquarium water or any aquarium u have or know where u can get watet from that tank and do a major water change. Are u using and sort of filter also how long has thr 20 gal been set up? If its a brand new tank, u need to disconnect the filtet, use only a spnge filter, heater, and alot of O2. get some bacteria booster, help cycle the tank faster and add some filter padding from a seasoned filter to help boost the bacteria as well. Add some amquel or prime tooo and some salt as well for healing and electrolytes.

Baby aros are sensitive and very delicate. IMO, they shouldn't be for sale that young and taken from their parents mouths. Very sad!!

The tank water was new but I took a seasoned filter from my larger tank and put it on there with the old pad and I took gravel from my larger tank also I figured that's where the bacteria is so it should have at least helped to start cycle the tank

Yeah but the water is new. U were better off filling it witg old water then u can do a water change later on
