Throw in a cricket , they are mostly insectivores anyway, feeding a mostly insect,arthopods diet helps prevent dropeye.

you can try to dim the lights or even paste black stickers on 3 sides of the tank to make the tank darker while he gets used to the new tank...

Good that your training him with pellets. If all else fails and you're still worried that she's not eating, also try frozen blood worms and krill. I've not seen aro that won't take it.

For what it's worth, I have had 4" Lei's at separate times in a bigger tank and they did fine...they acted like they owned the tank lol. Good luck.
