Arowana Stocking Question.....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Other thing I though of, would getting 2 that are small ATM to grow out now, then move them into the the big tank a bit smaller than my current Arowana be smart? Or would they bully him since they know each other?

Really keeping more than 1 aro in a tank is never recommended. When you see success it's usually when keeping several arowanas together and keeping the one's together that have already proven compatibility. Different size of the fish really pertains to generalizing tendency to matching w/ other level of aggression. i.e. small Jar / most aggressive fish. Keep trying it is great to hear different success stories. Keep a close eye you will see what works vs what won't.

Size wise. My black arowana is currently 20". The 2 Arowana I would buy to grow are 4-6". I would put them in a tank together to grow together until the L is built. Then my holding pools while I setup the tank is when they would all meet. I think there would be best as it is will be lights out and less activity. Then, move them all to the L tank where the hierarchy can be sorted out.

good planning + awesome set ups i think you're gonna do great. with all that space could even get few more aros and keep same strategy that way u have more attitudes to try and get right vs just the 2 newbies
