Arowana Tank mates?????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I hope to put a gulper catfish in my Silvers tank..... I'm just waiting for my silver to get a bit bigger because I've seen what gulpers are capable of.

I've HEARD that bichirs work well too, given that they typically occupy the lower part of the tank while the aro's cruise the top.

Just curious, but why would the Gulper be a bad idea?

Thinking of adding an arowana to my south american biotope tank (1800g still in design stage) it would be 20 feet long and 5 feet at its deepest (I want to connect it to a terrarium so it would actually have a shore at one end) my question is would the arrowana attack my discus. I will have a couple hundred guppies and tetras so would the arowanna go after them instead also would the shallower water keep them relegated to the deep end.

That's a great idea but every Aro I have ever seen in the appropriate sized tank have owned the whole tank, not just the top. Silvers and jardinis alike can and will cruise bottom as well as the top. But I agree with the theory as well as datnoids.
