hi

i want to buy silver arowana. now i want information about tank setup. like Grave, plants, Filter, light, ... . i,ll really appreciate.

1. big tank...like 185 gal. up!
2. plants are ok...artificial or natural...but not too crowded
3. frequent water changes...like 30% every week!
4. max filtration u can afford! wet/dry filters are better
5. substrate is up to u...no substrate is easier to clean!
6. lighting i recommend aqua-glo or something of the sort...hqi lamps are very strong and they will toast the skin of your silver!
7. tankmates: anything the aro wont eat!...ive tried aro community but was unsuccesful!
cya!

At first thx for your answer.

My big tank is about 55 gallon. is it ok for 10cm arowana. ( in the future i will buy a new big aquarium about 150 gallon.)

is it possible that i didn't use plants? ( I hate plants )

can you give me some information about wet/dry filters?

I agree with you. (substrate)

how about other kind of arowana. like dwarf, Asian ( gold, red ).

finally what is a good style( i mean height, width and length ) for a 150 gallon tank. especially for arowana.

Aliaqua, do a little search here in MFK. You have loads of info just going through the AROWANA forum..

First off, i think your tank will work for a couple months, they don't need plants. Also I don't think Asian Arowana should be purtaced unless you are going to breed them and release to the wild population. and I would go for a 180g plus because silvers get atleast 3.5 feet or, 90 to 100cm.

You want him to release asian aros in IRAN:ROFL: :screwy:

For a silver aro your 55gallon would only be good for only a couple of months. Best to start with at least a 180 gallon (6' x 2' x 2') because a silver aro will need that size tank withih 2 years. Eventually it will need even a bigger tank but you could keep in the 180g for about 5 years. The 180g will defenitely be two small once the aro is 28 plus inches.

This is ridiculous.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost positive Asian aros bred in tanks are vastly different than their wild counterparts. They have undergone artificial selection through selective breeding as opposed to natural selection in their native habitat.

NEVER release captive fish into the wild:ROFL: :screwy:

how about other arowana like dwarf or Asian growth? i want to keep arowana to when that he die and i don't want to sell it.

Axel thx for your help. but i think in IRAN i can't release arowana.

dmopar74 i agree with you.

thx all for their suggestion.

for any aro you will need at least a 180-gallon tank(6x2x2)...

also there are no "dwarf aro's" the smallest aro is probably an asian or a australian aro wich gets to 30" i think.
