Listen to bderick, i would wait till at least 11" for a cichlid to be added. But dont add a baby cichlid because it will end up dead add one about 5". Ive see oscars and jd's get along with arrows, you have to becareful about the cichlid combo because you could end up with a lot of dead fish if you mix the wrong ones.

I used to have my Aros with a ton of African Cichlids. He picked off the weaker ones, but left the rest mostly alone. I also had another Aro with a somewhat colony of Convict cichlids. He left them alone mostly.
