you can mix mutilpe aros in the right situation. I believe this will go on a fish by fish basis. First you will need a large tank, and then when they get to a certain size. You will need a gigantic tank. I personally have had sucess with 2 silvers together, and at another point 3 black aros. In both cases the fish evetually got too big for my tank and I sold them.
If you want mutiple fish, I would consider a fish that does not grow that big. Or I would focus on one aro and maybe add some other fish. Good luck.
