Arowanas VS Knives

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
2 aro's fighting in a 300g? Maybe, possibly? My local fish shop has two 18 inch aro's in a 100g and they've been there for ages and they havn't a mark on them.

Carl.

Like most of thm said, get a silver. Blacks are hard to come by, but you do, I would say to jump on it. Blacks rock. They are my favorite fish. Look up black Arowana on google and you will see some juvinile pics. As far as you not knowing too much on arowanas, Check this link

you want to buy a snow, im selling 3 right now

I want a snow really bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I'm aro shopping, just lost my silver. Please let me know. Snow's are my fav.

Didn't realize snow's costed so much. I know I've asked around about them at my lfs and they just gave me a funny look. I'll go with a silver then.

I have looked up pics on the Black Aro and that's one reason I'd really like to get one. Flip side is that I've yet to find anyone (online or other) who sells them. IF I were to find a Black Aro, what's the average price range I'd be looking at?

And are Snow's really $1000+?

Yes, snows go for 5 digits easy. And the blacks cost around 100-200 depending on if you get a good deal, your location, ect. ect.

Also, that is a juvinile black on my avatar.

Damn...well scratch the snow off of my list of future fish to own.
Why are blacks so much more expensive than silvers? I'm assuming they have yet to be able to breed them readily in captivity...

Are the water perameters extremely important? The location I'm @ has very hard water with a very high pH. It also has a high alkalinity. Would these be issues in owning an arowana?

Lockness you found it! Shhhhhhhhh dont tell them how much snows are worth, they're worth what a lowly mfk'r in the USA can afford!!! A good home, lots of love, blah blah blah

Blacks are out of Season until sept., that's why they're hard to get now. Ive heard up to $400, but this fall is better. I looked at how jumpy wild caught are vs farm and it's quite a difference.

wow to 18" arows in a 100gal thats horrible....and i payed $180 for my black at 8"or10" cant remember.....and i got him as my first arow(prob stupid but ya know) i would suggest a silver....and a snow like lockness said easily 5 digits and you cant just get them anywhere very hard to find....and as for hard water my ph is 8.0 out of the tap and he does fine..and even when blacks are in season they are not that easy to get like silvers and will still cost a good amount....and it will be hard to find a tiny baby one...
