I am new here so forgive me for any ignorance. I need help! I have a new black arowana that I just put in my tank a few days ago. I have 2 peacock bass and 1 teacup stingray with it in the tank. I think the arowana might have some type of skin parisite, ICH. It looks like tiny pieces of sand on the sides, top and eyes of the fish. I started using Rid-Ich that was recommended by the place I got him from. I also have slowly raised the temp to 86deg. This is the third day/treatment and I think it has helped. But I have noticed a few changes and wanted to know if this is normal. The two wisker type antenas on the top of his mouth have shriveled up and I have noticed he is breathing a bit more rapid. Is this something I should be concerned with? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

add salt do more water change i guess it never happened to me

if you have an hob filter, drop the water level so it falls further. raising the temp to 86 degrees makes it harder for oxygen transfer. by making the water fall further you create more aggitation for the the transfer.....this will aid in his breathing. if you dont have an hob filter, put some more bubblers in.....again you want to aggitate the water surface to promote gas exchange.
good luck

earate more, as freshwater says, less ability for water to hold o2 when water is warm so your air may not be satisfactory to handle that/ fish breathe faster heavier when stressed and have less oxygen. i dont know how many times i see people say to raise temps but you only do that if your are dead certain that your water is near pefect in its parameters. -if your fish has ich outbreak likley something has gone wrong somewhere- maybe Water Quality.
otherwise you can compound the problems by making other things worse.
disease comes from the pathogen being present true but its ussually becasue the pathogen is present in poor water and coupled with poor handling/stress of fish.
otheriwse youd see pathogens taking fish out everywhere fish are. it makes much sense to get the later two right so that if ever any pathogen gets there it dont stand much chance cause the fish immunity is working properly, its lines of defense arent down.
