Arowana's

I had a link showing an 8 ft wild aro on my laptop, great link, it was aro info, fanstatic, my laptop is a little upset right now, I'll try to recover. I've talked to a few people who say their have reached 3.5 ft in the right size aquarium with large tank and room to really grow. They're going to adapt to their enviroment to survive. I let you know, mine was a few inches in September and now over 18" and growing really long really fast, like before my eyes!!!!

You sure the 8' wild one wasn't an arapaima? That is way bigger than any recorded arowana.

no silver on this planet has the capability of reaching 8ft in length.

It said aro cause it sounded very big, so that's why I checked into it. Then again, everything written on an informational site is still just 1 person's view, so they could have been wrong. What is the biggest recorded size?

I am going to make my aro as my show piece /prize fish and stock my tank around it.A few people here suggested getting a ray which sounds like a very good idea, just have to do some homework on them and weigh the pros and cons of putting one in a home aquarium. THANKS !! for all the info :) I love how u guys (talk about subject )and (not try to rip each other apart when u dont agree). Hats off to u, i used a saltwater forum that would get nasty when they didnt agree with comments.

3.5ft max size for a silver aro in a home tank
3ft for a black aro
2.5ft for a jardini
2.5ft for an asian aro

dont buy a giga for the home tank they get way to big and can reach 8ft easy but no other aro would ever reach 8ft you will be lucky if any other aro apart from the giga reach 4ft

what size tank do u guys have ur aro's in ? sucks not being able to put 2 in a tank if there not a pair.I learned the hard way few years ago when my silver killed my black :( boy did that suck 150.00 bucks down the drain. also do u power feed ur? i use to power feed my tank and do 2 water changes a week, which to a point paid off because my aro grew and was silver with a drop dead samon color on his fins.

I have one in a 265 and one is going in a 300 in the next week or 2.
I setup a drip system so I dont do water changes (its automatic) and I've noticed a drastic increase in color and appetite in my silver (in the 265).

rallysman a by chance u have any pics? i'm going tonight to look at baby aro's.

here are a couple shots of my big aro
