I agree the fish doesn't look like the platinums I have seen, but it is very different than a regular silver.

I'm guessing that a platinum is leucistic?
Could these fish be an amalenistic type maybe? Lacking some or most of the color pigment present in a normal silver, but not a full blown albino type?
