Well I've finally located a C. piquiti and I'm going for it! Currently my 75 gallon pbass graveyard has 4/5 of my C. temensis left. I don't know what's going on but I salted it today in hopes of saving the last 4, I guess only time will tell. Should I go ahead and setup another tank for my new Azul? I have a 20 long that I could setup for it. I think it's about 4" long right now, I don't want to put it in the 75 until things settle down. I'VE WANTED ONE OF THESE SINCE I SAW THEM IN 2005!!!!!

whats the water params in your tank?
Do you really want to risk your dream cichla in a tank youe not 100% about?

What temp should I start off with? I've seen some threads on here where people are keeping them at 85F+, the highest I've ever gone was about 82F. I plan on using my spare AC 110 (500 gph) as the filtration on the 20 long, think that'd be too much for it?

Setup another tank for sure just for the azul...You have not clue what is in the 75 right now...i wouldnt chance it.

:headbang2Well I joined here a year after you did but I to was blown away by a picture of a zul and a kel that someone posted here and wanted them ever since.Good for you.Is this the same source that you were telling me about? If you have had had some kind of problem with the other tank then I would put the zul in the smaller tank temporarily.Take no risks.

I'm not going to chance it, I figured that'd be the safe way to go. What temp should I set the Azul tank up at? It's coming in around 4" or so.

The source is the one I told you, I just figured who knows what might happen, if Azuls pop up again, I'll buy more but I can't take the chance they WON'T pop up again, especially with this HR669, who knows now!

I agree, fatten him up and enjoy.

Keep ALL your pbass tanks at 86-87 FOR LIFE. They need the hot water, it will cure what ails your tank. I hope you have a larger tank lined up in the near future.
