addition: im guessing hes being shipped so your best bet to decrease stress is ask your seller for his water parameters and try to get as close as possible and use the drip acclimation method.

if you setting up another tank in a hurry where will you be getting the beneficial bacteria from? what other tanks do you have besides the 75 and the 20?

Well I've finally located a C. piquiti and I'm going for it! Currently my 75 gallon pbass graveyard has 4/5 of my C. temensis left. I don't know what's going on but I salted it today in hopes of saving the last 4, I guess only time will tell. Should I go ahead and setup another tank for my new Azul? I have a 20 long that I could setup for it. I think it's about 4" long right now, I don't want to put it in the 75 until things settle down. I'VE WANTED ONE OF THESE SINCE I SAW THEM IN 2005!!!!!

.. Id find a way to put them in the most established tank i have.

Change of plans, I'm going to move my sick pbass to the 20 long and sterilize my 75 gallon then I'm going to put the Piquiti in there.

Keep ALL your pbass tanks at 86-87 FOR LIFE. They need the hot water, it will cure what ails your tank. I hope you have a larger tank lined up in the near future.
I have a 220 gallon tank to move them to (6' x 2') and I'll be building a 700 gallon plus plywood tank in the basement this winter. It's gonna be in the area of 10' x 4' or 12' x 4', haven't decided yet.

Thanks for all those suggestions! I probably will go with a barebottom tank but I'm gonna put plenty of cover in there for him. I feed a steady diet of Vita-Chem enriched frozen bloodworms/mysis shrimp, I will never feed live to my pbass again.

My brother uses the same filters I do and he's going to give me his well-seeded bio-rings. I have no other tanks right now running, I've got a 220 I'm setting up but I can't set it up until we close on the house we bought which isn't until April 27th. So I'll be setting the 220 up at the end of the month.
