Arrow jumped out, ripped fin - Please advise.

I agree, it will heal very quickly with clean water, a little salt, and raised temperature.

For preventative measures put something heavy on the lid, and make sure you don't leave the tank uncovered for long, because these aro's love to jump

I have a very heavy 48" light fixture sitting on the lids right now. Its very bulky and ugly so i dont plan on using that perminantly to keep the lids down strong

I'm thinking books might be a better choice. I dont use to use heavy rocks or stones because it increases the risk of shattering

Any other ideas?

Increase the temperature little bit, add some salt and keep water change schedule, the aro will be fine in no time. Dont' turn on so bright light. Low light is better for arowana though.

Yeah I use a 18x18" stone (marble) tile about half an inch thick. Thats pretty heavy, lies flat on the lid and looks nice too. plus because it is flat the weight is spread out over a larger area. They can still lift it slightly though so when I'm not in for a while I put another tile there just for extra caution.
