you can get a 3 outlet wall plug like this and use just one outlet on your wall.

The lights are just sitting on top of the tank. They are each individual units so you can move them wherever you want spot lighting. I would say there are about the size of a man's fist.

That's an effect unique to LEDs and metal halides

Just really like the shimmer effect. I was out of the hobby for a year or so.I'm just getting back into it now and can only have one tank, so I want it to look as good as possible. Something to keep my impulsive, A.D.D. self interested for as long as possible. Do the high output LED's run hot, like MH, or can I just let the fixture sit on the glass lid unmounted? Sorry for all the questions, just diggin your setup.
