algae scrubbers do all the work skimmers do without the drawbacks suck as sucking the nutrients out and they can be the only filter you have on a reef tank with better results than any other type of filter with a skimmer. on fresh and salt. im not saying all skimmers are bad for your tanks im just saying there are much better solutions

So if your algea scrubber is not even built yet........HOW CAN YOU EVEN BEGIN TO MAKE THIS STATEMENT????????:confused::confused::confused: If you do not have FIRST HAND experience with an algea scrubber on your tank you do not know that to be a fact!!!! Im not saying algea scrubbers dont work, because I have never used one and I dont know, Im just saying you are giving alot of false and misled statements about skimmers!

because thousands of reefers have used them with more success than skimmers... many people on this site too... im not talking from a huge amount of experience, but i can have educated opinions cant i?

i have a 30 hex that has nothing but an air pump for equipment. it has a sand bottom, live rock stacked up the center up to the top. and has a toby puffer and a yellow damsel in it. o and a pencil urchin. been running like this over a year and doin fantastic! they gey a few flakes in the morning is all i feed. still using the food i got a year ago! couple little crabs runnin round in there and problay briste worms too.

awww... no coral? toby puffers dont eat coral like everyone says they do... at least mine doesnt... what type of toby?

EDIT: cool, looks like a nice tank
