black water, frequent small water changes everyday and bumping up the temp a degree a day... sometimes they will start to show some behavior...... might even be golden azuls from one of the pics

Golden Azuls? I've never heard of it. What do they look like. I'm very new in this Cichla. I normally keep only arowana and some knifefish. My friends sold them to me as the blue Temensis. But I know that they are Azuls, just never heard of golden Azuls. Hope you can give me some ideas.

Nice shots and fish!

The Azuls are now in Thailand. I will check with the age as they were with my friends before he sold them to me. They diet on goldfish about 2-3 inches long. The female used to pair up with the ocellaris so I removed him out of the tank. I'll surely keep you guys updated if anything happen.
And I'm sorry too, bro Jamesliyu2000.
Is there any tips on breeding these Cichla?

Not really.... I had experience breeding severum, peacock cichlids, and the most recently japanese top view ranchu. Things in common is natural lighting environment and aged water. Sorry no first hand breeding experience in Cichla.. You wanna ship them over here, I will give them a try for free???:naughty: I will pay the shipping.
( 2 of the three flowerhorn I bought from LFS already laid eggs twice in 3 weeks. Something in my water make them really hot:ROFL:)
Is your tank close to window?? or completely in the dark room?

I'm thinking of movie them in the plastic tub, which has 1.2M diameter or keep them in the tank. They both are in the same room. The room's walls are made of glass, little sunlight can reach this room. I have experience of cross breeding Argentia with the parrot and some flowerhorn. But never breed Cichla.

I think natural sunlight will help a lot in breeding. I don't think it's good idea to leave artificial light on the whole time. It may disturb their circadian rhythm. Good luck.

when breeding cichla water quality and temp is important.

regular azuls are basically silver and blue while golden azuls, which are collected from a diff part of the river, hold more gold/yellow coloration on their body.
