Can't wait for future updates to see how the jags develop. You will notice that flowers chew their food forever and eat about half as fast as other rays. I started cutting their food up a lot smaller which seems to help them but also helps the other rays eat faster as well LOL

Man this is so true. My female flower seems to chew forever, even on smaller pieces. Where the marbles and even the blackies which are half her size just inhale theres. The marbles just seem to swallow whole large prawns or mussels. I am assuming it is cause their mouths appear smaller.

I can't wait for the girl's to put some size on, The girly feeds them the tank 2 times a day 6 days a week ( She doesn't feed them on water changing days).
We notice the flower doesn't "stand up" when it eats. He lays flat and nibbles, but eats his food. I was assuming that's what they did.

As for the flower, I didn't know they had smaller mouths. You don't see that many photo's of there mouths on the net. I'll tell the girly to chop the food up even more now. She chops the shrimp in to quarters and the silver sides and the worms in half. The pellets she also cuts in halves as well. Since our main goal as of now is to plump the flower up more, so we will cater to him while the others get fatter.

Thanks for confirming that the flower isn't being stubborn in eating, but that's the way they eat.

Any more insight of what I need or should do let me know.
Thanks for all the help and further help.

Gogeous pics, I really need a different camera. Just hard for me to spend the jack on a camera when I know I can get a new ray for the price. :D
There is other noticeable differences in body structures, one is eye placement. If you notice the flowers eyes are closer together compared to Marbles/Motoros and Blacks. Not sure on the jags as I have never owned one. But from your pics the Jags eyes seem to be wider placement, even at the smaller size.

Jags eyes do sit a little wider than motoros. I just recently introduced my female flower back into the tank with the others. She was taking so long to eat that there was not food left when she ate her first piece. I separated her so I could power feed her. Eventually when they get bigger they will eat faster. From the look of your pics the food size looks about right.

Now that you just pointed that out, It looks like your right. The space between the eyes looks wider in the motor's and the jags.

Here's the younger jag and the flower.
