is it dangerous to sedate them? i dont know if i would risk it with such awesome fish.

There's always a risk in sedating the fish. But we are kinda doing it everyday on fish which we need to do microchip tagging on them or minor op. And sometime for picture taking purposes. But it will be best not to feedthe fish 1 day before the process.
