Decoration I think. Most of the Filipino folks decorate like that here. Can't think of any other purposes than decoration.

I always thought you were Australian! Sorry. Thanks for the answer. I was thinking it had a practical use. That house is gorgeous. The flooring alone is worth more than my whole fish collection!
