Has anyone ever thought of or actually tried to apply for a permit to legally own Asian arowana in the US?

If so, I'd like to hear about your experience and any information that you've found regarding it! So far I've found the applications on the FWS site that I might need but I just wanted to see if others have tried already.

Thanks all

i really doubt you'll be able to own an asian aro in the u.s. legally you'll need to be like a public aquarium or something like that

do you have a site I can visit that has these facts, I'd like to read as much as I can on it. Or do you have any personal experience with this?

The reason I ask is because the application gives the option to apply as an individual.

Ask oddball as hes most familiar with matters on these topics. Generally, even if the application has the individual option, you will never get the permit unless you are a public aquarium or a research facility.

He could make his house a public aquarium!

Does the application explain what is needed to keep a cites catagory one species?

The info is here in this site(MFK), do a search and you'll find there is no provisions made for an individual to own such.

you cannot own one legally. end of story
