Asian aros hiding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Missed that point, Miguel.

I will say this much, I've yet to have a small asian aro that ate well and hid. It's usually the opposite. They either hide and eat little or they are out and about and eat well.

I have had more than 20 Asian aros and not one of them has hid or rested on the bottom

I have had loads that were 6-8inch and they have gone into a 7ft tank and none of them have been skitish or scared

Aros of any size should feel comfort at the waters surface as that's were they feed

I have seen tanks full of silvers still with yolk sacks and still none of them were on the bottom hiding

And yes I will stick to what I said remove the hiding places all fish if provided with hiding places will use them take away that hiding place and the fish will have no choice but to swim around

I have never had any drift wood or hiding places in any tank I have owned and all of my fish swim around in the open

I still think that something is wrong with the tank water as it's both aros resting on the bottom not just one

Let's wait for the OP to confirm the water parameters as right now all he has stated is they are good

Hey guys
I Tested the water and amm 0 nitrates 0 and nitrites 0 leading upwards .5 will have pics up soon.

I have had a Yellow tail do the same and currently my HBRTG does the same mostly after eating. Likes to chill behind the driftwood. But soon as it see me it becomes very active and swimming around looking for more food

Check your water temp. Sometime cold temp water will make the fish want to rest at the bottom and move less. I would recommend you to add some small cichlids in there so they can chase them around. Also, where do you put your tank? garage? living room? personal room? I have notice that my fish in the garage stay at the bottom more often. It seems like they bored of the surrounding and just relax at the bottom. Check ur temp, get it to 84 F and get some cichlids. I don't recommend anything in the aro tank as they can get injury easily. GL
