Hi there , I was wondering if anyone has heard of asian aro living with aggresive cichlids?
The tank would be 12ftx4ftx4ft, I believe that's about 1000gallons.
I would like to raise 2 or 3 aro's [super red(Scleropages formosus) and chile red],
and pairs of aggresive cichlids [Red devils,Red terrors,Butterkofrie,Black nasty,Jaguars,
motagense, and possibly the blue freckled monster].
I would buy all the fish at the same time and the aro's would be bigger than the cichlids.
I am hopeing that the cichlids won't bother the aro's due to size difference at the begining
and as they grow they should live together due to the fact that they grew up together.
Also does any one know if a chile or purple red aro is the same as a super red aro with
color being the only difference?
Any input is welcome. Thank-you all!!!

Anything is possible. If it were me, I wouldn't risk expensive aros with anything aggressive enough to harass or harm them. I'd use all 1436 gals of that monster tank to try breeding the aros.

I'm not sure if there might be a problem, but why chance it? Just FYI Red asian aros are actually scleropages legendrei, not s. formosus.

Why not oscars or green/gold severum or discus. If you have plans on buying such top quality aros, I wouldn't suggest putting them with such agressive cichlids.

I think it would be a sweet setup:headbang2 the only change i would make is to get common aro's and a big one too.Opiate had good suggestion with the jardeni it may be able to hang with a umbee as it would eventualy rule the tank:SaiyanSmi and u could lose the big money aro's  but a tank that big anything is possiable .lol:D

nothings impossible

Why does everone think that agressive cichlids are tougher than aros????
O.K., NO wolfs and no blue freckled monsters. Now, we are dealing with feastes,
midas, buterkofrie, jaguars, ect........... and red asian aros........
no body has convinced me yet.........I know a jardinie is more agressive but
thats not what I want.......... I think in a 1000gal aquar.. it might just work?????
