Asian Arowana are illegal in USA but, ...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
let me know when it is going to be legal... i will stock up on AA as prices would sure sky rocket lol

One of the shops i know the people personally and another shop I know one of their customers who brought one from them. I mentioned that persons name and it was all good.

The price I was given at one shop was 3500 for a red Asian Arowana and the gold cross back was 6000. They where all close to 10 inches maybe a foot

That's expensive. Here golds start around 1.5k USD and reds 2.5k or so I believe, plus import duties and all

Just as a heads up...state and federal wildlife management watch this and many other forums...and even though you haven't directly stated you own one it sounds like you are privy to more than one shop that does...probably not the wisest to talk openly about it if you value these shops or the people who run them.

Even if they are im not doing anything illegal and they can't force me to tell them anything. I think I'm ok but thanks for the warning

I think this is crazy the way people are talking over a fish.
Don't get me wrong I fully understand there banned in your country but it's crazy how I can walk into almost any aquarium shop in London and there full of these types of aro.

People getting warned on what they say n stuff.

MADNESS

You right though and I won't say another word about it. I was just surprised that a few shops are carrying them and taking the risk of being caught.

look man I wasn't trying to be a hardass or anything I was just stating that its possible you could catch heat from the thread, no offense intended or anything.

One of the mods on here had a semi-similar situation happen on another forum were someone turned him in for having fish illegal in the state he had just moved to. Granted he was in possession of the fish and he had pictures of said fish but I'm no lawyer and I'd imagine if the feds wanted it bad enough they'd find a way to subpoena you into diming out the stores. Is it likely to happen? eh probably not. Again no offense intended at all.

youd be surprised what you can find with very little digging hahaha. Snakeheads, Asian aros, endangered critters of all types...all available if you have the scratch and the cajones to ask about them lol.
