Now, the following will be a very stupid question.. but I am going to ask it to ensure we are all on the same page:

You are getting an Asian Arowana at 1.5 to 2K...Is that amount in Indian Rupees? (~35 to 40 USD?) or is it 1.5-2K USD (~70,000 to 90,000 Indian Rupees)?

(If it's a decent quality Golden or Red Asian Aro, it will be 1.5 to 2K USD. (Greens will be significantly cheaper..Or Else you might be confusing a Pearl Arowana (which are available for about 1.5 to 2K Indian Rupees) for an Asian Arowana.

(As I said, the question above is potentially very stupid, but I am asking because you have mentioned 1.5 to 2K and 500 USD is a pretty large difference :) )

Posting a video or a picture of the fish you intend to buy will be excellent!

Epic fail, its a jar...not even an asian...

I'd be interested to see what is a golden arowana. Is it a gold xb? Rtg? 1.5 banja or what? That price is very cheap, perhaps it's a green or even a silver?

Sorry to tell you Dev, its a jardini ( or pearl arowana as called by some), if not then you've posted the wrong YouTube vid then) Good price though for a nice looking jar. But don't be mistaken it for an Asian , it's not.

That is definitely a Pearl Arowana (Scleropages jardinii) and not an Asian Arowana.

The easiest of several ways to tell them apart is the size of the scales and the number of rows of scales on the fish. On the Asian Aros it is 5 rows, on Pearl Aros it is 7..

1.8K INR sounds OK for an 8 inch Pearl Aro.

Pearl Aros are super aggressive and usually turn psychotic at about 10 inches and try to kill everything else in the tank. It is strongly recommended to keep them alone.

Tank size requirements stay the same. Lighting can be just the Hitachi Aquarium lamp (4ft one is about 400 INR). Filtration and other details remain the same.

Sid

There are few types of Golden Aros for sale in some stores in Bombay for about 50,000 to 80, 000 INR (~1100 to 1800 USD) at 8 inches. There was a high quality Chilly Red Aro for about 150,000 INR (~3300 USD).
