Asian Arowana keepers from Australia out there ?

At those kinds of profit margin lots of people would take the chance. Every now & then we encounter buyers from countries where aros are illegal that claim they have the resources to get it into the country. How or if they can do it, I have no idea. Common sense says that at that kind of profits, the penatly is low compared to other "trades".

Anyway I digress, is there any reason why OZ gov does not permit importation? I heard its the same scenario in NZ so if I do go, I would have to leave all my aros behind

it seems to me that if someone has a papered, chipped fish they should be able to bring it to a new country, it accomplishes nothing to make that illegal.

Redtape...besides u still need to apply for import permits etc. which is not easy.
