Cross back are a different type of aro compared to red tail gold

Most high back red tail golds are red tail gold x with a cross back or a very low grade cross back or they may have been placed in a white tank from birth to make the shine level go up this shine level will drop after a few months of being in a normal tank with normal lights

If you want fast results buy a cross back

If you don't mind waiting a few years for colour buy a red as they nearly always have colour going over the back
The chances of any gold having full gold over the back is very slim in a normal tank even with a cross back
The name cross back is very misleading as not many cross

I really like the Blue Crossbacks, and the fact they stay at 24' is just a bonus.
This a Blue Crossback right?

Link doesn't work

Even red tail golds can have a blue base

Gold intensity is better on cross backs
As for shine level a cross back only has 1/2 -1 more shinny scale do you want to pay $500 more for that is up to you

Most people who buy a red tail gold end up wishing they got a cross back and normally sell and buy a cross back

Why are you so worried about the size of a red if this is for the ray tank you are talking about you have plenty of room and a 24"aro will look lost

I go by my 4x lenght 2x width. Its not so much for the fish, im sure a larger aro would be fine in 8x4, but to me it just looks like its cramped :D
Heres a new link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvZNhy0CIPs
Another one, if this dosnt work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSFu-Ps6zkQ
Its supposed to be an Electric blue crossback arowana is that correct?

Still doesn't work

Ada 4x2 is a standard size for a gold in Asia a 8x4 will be fine for a red

What you need to remember is 36" for red is the total max size known

My red is 7-8 years old and still 30" max I can't see it growing anymore

How does it do with the tigrinus?

Fine

You will always get some conflict in a mixed comm tank you only start to get problems when you have one clear bully winner
