it would take years to make a asian arowana to be mature enough to breed and pair, let alone spawn. it would take months and a little percentage to make them spawn, alot of people in my country own asian arowanas and yet the only closest success they had is making a pair out of them and 2-3 people said they had breed them.
thats why we need to start now, imo our ability to breed the fish can only improve. and until we have a decent amount breeding, prices will be very high, but they will go down if we get more to breed. you have to start somewhere.

you make it sound so easy. breeding this fish takes years. alot of experienced asian arowana hobbyist in my country just beside indonesia and malaysia and we are having trouble making a pair let alone breeding this fish. you know even asian arowana farmers are only 70-80% sure when it comes to determining the gender of the fish.

yea i know there tough to tell. personally i dont think a hobbiest will have any luck breeding them by any other method, the what i said earlier. taking ten you think are female, and ten you think are male and throwing them in a pond. and then checking there mouths every once in a while.

Hao, I hope this helps, I have read somewhere (wish I could post the link) that the main factor in AsianAro Farmers secrets to breeding is the GEOGRAPHIC location of the Farm, ASIAN ARO's spawning tendencies are greatly incresed if the pond/farm that they're in is located in the Equator, Climatory facors like Humidity and water parameters in these areas are VERY HARD to duplicate anywhere else in the world esp N.America and Europe thats why its only in S.E. Asian region that farms are able to successfully produce aro spawns... keep in mind, this is a "main" factor but not the only challenging factor, selecting an adequate breeding pair also poses as a big challenge

yea i knew about the equator and pairs

after reading to some of the threads here, its Funny how some people insists that a farm can be started out in other places in the world provided that you have a good pair selected and the financial resources to start up a farm outside S.E.Asia.... unless someone can EXACTLY duplicate the climatory parameters needed to "spark" the spawning tendencies of these fish, breeding Asian aros outside Asia is not feasable... well, not in our lifetime
