Asian Arowana Tank Mates?

Oh boy! This is getting increasingly difficult!

yeah i know how you feel. keep in mind that im giving you "safe" advice. some people mix fish willy nilly and worry about the consequences later, so youre free to try what you like. but since youre still in the upgrade phase i would go ahead and make everything perfect from the get go, especially if you want to get the most out of a beautiful and pricy fish like an asian aro.

if you were to locate some large clown loaches they would be perfect for your tank.

Just had a thought, what do you guys think about keeping the aro with Jack Dempsey or electric blue Jack Dempsey?

It may work if you were to add three or four jds but making sure you stick to one sex (I assume you will be adding quality filtration). If you were to just add one dempsey it would be at the arowanas mercy in the long term. Trying to add fish that don't run the risk of damaging your showpiece or being battered/killed in the future can be a challenge especially in a small setup. Are there any shoaling species you would be interested in keeping?

After much deliberation, I am thinking of moving the discus and the aro to the 220 & using the 55 to stock convicts or such.
