there is no zoo or public aquarium can have Asian Aro, and so do other people!
According to USFWS, Asian arowana canot be kept as a pet or show like public aquarium, zoo. The only way that can meet the requirements to import Asian Aro is for scientific purpose!

Many public aquariums and zoos have asian aros, often times that is where confiscated fish go

One site I checked said you cannot have them without a permit in the USA, so that left me wondering too. How do you obtain this permit to keep them?.

I live in Las Vegas and there's a casino here called Mandalay Bay, they have an attraction called Shark Reef. I went there 8 months ago and saw three Asian Arowanas.

Here's a picture of one.

wrong....go check out the aquarium in denver

Well, at least the Casino will have enough money to pay the fine after that picture...:D

Here's the link to the permit that one would have to fill out in order to even have a chance at importing an Asian arowana. It's six pages of very detailed questions including demands for a detailed research proposal (if applicable) and other requirements, so it will be quite the undertaking to fill it out. One problem is that the current form expired last November, so there is the possibility of a new format being used.
