Asian bumblebee catfish grow out thread

Yes, pseudomystus siamensis. What insects that sink could I feed him?

I've never done that specifically other than with various worms - blood, tubifex, black, meal, etc.

I imagine non-surface aquatic insects. These guys search out insects and their larva in the detritus on the bottom. Free-swimming insects are rare to come by - too many fish and Co eat those as they are so visible.

i have some live black worms in my fridge now, well I haven't checked on them for 3 days but they've lasted in there a few weeks so far. Maybe I'll try that tonight.

Do you guys think live Blackworms that have been in my fridge for 17 days are still good to feed him tonight? And yes they're still alive, all of them! Water in the bag is a bit cloudy but looks the same other than that.

If theyr still alive, i wouldnt see a problem with it. I'm no Expert tho. Remember in the wild, meny cats eat fish that have been dead for awhile :)

I've fed my brown bullheads blackworms that were about a month old in the fridge but still very much alive. Didn't seem to have any ill effects.

hey man were his bands as pronounced (yellow ones are thick) when he was smaller ? Small ones at my lfs have yellow bands that are hardly visible

He hasn't grown a lot since I got him but I swear he has put on a half inch. His bands are more.....what's the color I'm looking for.....burnt yellow if you know what I mean. Their color can change drastically between fish. Also during the day when he is laying on his plant the bands are almost brown and during feeding they are gold.

little hog enjoyed his live blackworms last night, gave him about 10 before a spilt the bag on the floor :). My angelfish seemed to like to steal them from my hand while I was trying to get them to him as well!

Glad to see he's a little piggy. Saw this last night thought you might like it.
I never saw one before. Looks really cool.

Ah, the harlequin lancer, a beautiful catfish. Looks pretty similar to a giant bb but not AS voracious (hint hint to you jaws :) )

Last night I taught him a new trick :). I had my hand half way up the tank in an o shape, put a few bloodworms inside and in no time he came up to it and starting crawling around my arm trying to find the bloodworms. Eventually he figured out that going through my hand = where the food is.

so now I have a NOCTURNAL by nature catfish that handfeeds, is diurnal, and will swim through hoops. What next!!!
