Asian for sale on ebay?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its amazing. here in socal finding an asian arro is pretty easy, just hang around a LFS long enough and get to know the owners and they will pretty much order you what ever you want....

or so i'm told...or something.

I have to agree with the "report him" comment. Illegal fish trade doesn't need to be supported by ebay. :screwy:

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for keeping cool rare fish - but do it with in the legal limits. If you listen to the reasons they are illegal in the US, they make sense. Sure there will always be opposition.

Pretty Daring if it is?[/QUOTE]

Hes got a big ball sack for this one!!!! :screwy: :screwy:

Ha! The guy selling him ended the auction. The item was "lost or broken" I think they mean taken by the ASPCA...

So true!

Fry - you need more than proof of captive bred status to move a protected animal in and out of a country -even if it is a "legal" animal to have in captivity, most likely it's not legal to move around. There is alot of CITIES paper work to go with transporting an animal such as this one. I know because I used to get them dumped on me by the dozens when I was working in Dallas. The guys were always catching people trying to sneak them in, and because the aquarium I was at had the right permits, they always came to us. I bet we had close to 60 of them. Not because they were wild caught, but because someone thought they could get away with it.

You completely misunderstood what I was saying. I was reasoning that we should be allowed to keep captive bred specimens in the U.S. but the U.S. government are prudes to not even allow that.

Sounds like you just need to get your CITES paperwork in order... and a really big tank, and the government will throw them at you.

There is nothing in the world that you can't do if you fill out the rite piece of paper.

I love beurocracy!!

As stated here: http://www.arowana.com.sg/faq.html

the US does not allow trade in the Asian Arowana (not even when they are captive-bred at CITES-registered farms like ours) because of the Endangered Species Act

If you can show us the specific CITES paperwork that can allow U.S. residents to get a hold of Asian Aros I would love to take a gander. And I don't mean getting them for zoos and public aquariums.
