Back to the topic: I'm sure that someone could explain wanting to bring the fish home alive (and in the bucket that you brought...with some of the store's tank water in it)...

I'd be interested to know whether the fish can pull through...

I brought a stonefish and a striper home on two different occasions and niether of them lasted very long.
