Asian Red Tail Cat and friends?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have heard of them doing that. Currently they are getting along fine. He claims a small cave and eats like crazy!!!! Never had a fish with such a big appetite. Will keep you all up to date if anything changes. I am not new to aggressive fish-as you can see in my Avatar. At one time I had a male Dovii and a male Umbee cohabit in the same 240 tank.
I also have a 125 gallon or a 1032 gallon pond on standby. Fingers crossed!

Nah you only thought you had aggressive fish before .... now you really DO have one. ARTC are IMHO the single most nasty fish on the planet.
They are quite simply .....:screwy:

:naughty:

lol i got one of these guys that was about 2 1/2 inches long and threw him in with my 8 inch silver gar and about an 6 inch eclipse catfish. next thing i know my rtc is gone and one of my silver gar has a fat belly :O

That can happen to any fish-lol. Put a 4 inch Alligator Gar with a 8 inch Oscar same thing will happen-dont really get your point?
They are getting along really well the ARTC now goes out of his cave for food and is becoming more social. As a matter of fact him and my CK chill together-go figure?
The other night I had to get a snack when i turned the light on the ARTC and CK were cruising together-has anyone ever had their ARTC do this. A social ARTC-lol!!

From what I hear, it's highly temporary...I just acquired a 3" TSN a week or so ago, so I'll probably be in the same boat as you pretty soon. lol

Juvenile behavior is often different from adult behavior. Jardinis usually ignore tank mates, until they hit 8". I expect something similar with the ARTC. I also believe they can reach 5', like the RTC, so that's something to look forward to: a fish almost as big and heavy as you that kills tank mates bigger than itself for fun.

I see a 625g stock tank in my future.

Wow 5'!! I was told by owners and research that they top at 30 inches.
Have the capability of reaching 3 feet but this is the first time I have heard of them getting to 5 feet-I dont even think the SouthAmerican get that large.

However if he does get that big I do have a 1032 gallon pond on standby and that would be pretty sweet to have.
