Alright guys I want opinions on a subject. Asian Redtail Catfish. How many people out there have them (I currently own one). What does everyone think of them. Are yours aggressive? Mine is quite the sweet heart. Im doing this just because I've been going to other forums and they have been bashing on this fish hardcore. I know they are mean, They do grow huge, And they eat all the time. But I really cant be the only one that owns and loves these guys. I think these other forums are just going by what the internet says. Im just trying to get some feed back on these special fish thanks guys. ]v[.F.K

I have one. I bought it at maybe 4 inches and now it is about 14-15 inches long. I had it for maybe over 2 years. I keep it by itself. The fish is known to be very mean and just kill for the thrill of it. It is not a community fish but a few people do put it with other fishes who can stand up for themselves with no problems. I keep my alone thou because I know how aggressive it can get.

go to Asian food market if you are in US, I've seen them selling as food in every Asian market around here and others are the same. They are selling these fish size usually larger than 1 foot and about $2 or less per lb ! the only thing is those fish are selling as food so they can get lots of injuries, but cat fish are really strong so pick a strong one and it will recover in no time !

I dont have one, but I would like to get one in the future. Very cool looking fish. How big is your artc?

mine is about 5 maybe 6 inches. Hes in a community setting and gets along with all other occupants which are a. 8 inch channel cat, 5 inch blue gill, 6 inch golden pike cichlid, 3 inch Blue johanni cichild, 3 inch yellow bullhead, 5 inch crayfish and 2 common plecos.

I think that bullhead will be in a bad situation soon. My uncle has 2 right now and they can barely be kept together. They avoid each other like a plague, and its not pretty when they meet near a food source. They should be separated soon anyway.

When they are small like that, they are not too aggressive but once it gains size, watch out!

I have one 12-14" got him(?) at around 2" had it about a year. Has been kept with chocolate pleco's and bichirs. I haven't seen any aggression out of it yet, I had a feeder that swam with them for a couple months until the bichir's got it. Beautiful fish except he hides all the time, and I rarely seen him very fast swimmer.

I had one about 10" long and he was gentle, but then again there was nothing smaller than him in the tank for him to pester. He kinda just chilled out most of the time and was a great fish... I have heard of them being mean fish when they are the most aggresive fish in the tank.

Exactly what mine dose causes no problems, Hidden most of the time. He dose chase the feeder roseys when its feeding time. The one problem I did have was when I introduced him into the tank my channel cat thumped him a few time and that was it.
