Don't worry, im not planning on adding this to my 7' but I am curious as to the tank size it would need?

Are you familiar, by any chance, with general guidelines (see below) and/or just trying to collect as many personal opinions as you can?

There is much confusion about this common name. If we are talking Hemibagrus wyckioides http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=19 with a maximum full length of about 3.5' then IMHO the minimum footprint should be 3.5 times 4 by 3.5 times 2. The vertical dimension should be at least 1 times the fish's length but more is better.

More so personal opinions. I've searched the net already. I just like to ask everyone on mfk as to me, your opinions are 10x as helpful as the net. Experience is much better. I am talking about Hemibagrus wyckioides.

Basically, my parents will be moving to a much bigger house, In the garden, i'm already gonna have a 10' x 6' for a south American rtc and maybe a few other fish. My living room will be filled with two tanks, the tank im building in 2 weeks which is a length - 7' height - 2' width - 3' .
The second tank will be a 10' by 4'.
The conservatory will be my personal fish house and i've always wanted a artc as well so that's my reason for asking.

I see. Well, I am dubious an ARTC would exceed 2.5' in "average" captivity. It is not impossible but unlikely, I reckon. None of my Hemibagrus wyckiies and H. nemurus grew fast and big even in a 40'x6'x3' pond. But in 10-20 years, ARTC could reach over 3', I believe if kept in a large, adequate tank.

I would "surmise" something in the 500gallon range would suffice for these guys while they do get large their rep usually means its the only fish in the tank. one of out local lfs had a 2'5" in a 500 and he did look big in the tank he had a hide spot and imho enough room to be happy. I looke dinto getting one of these guys at one point.. but decided one "solitary" big fish was enough for our collection.

Personally, the only way I'd want anything to do with this fish is if it was on the other end of my Penn Spinfisher 750. I personally don't see the point in a fish that gets that big that is that antisocial. You'd need a tank comparable to arapaimag's setup in order for that fish to play nice!
