I'm no expert I owned only 1 Asian RTC but he was mean to everyone and everything in the tank. I read they will fight to the death even if it's them that die. It might work just fine. Just my experience with one of the 2 fish listed.

I have owned a few and they were all mean. Back before everything was banned i try them more than a couple times in my asian predator tanks. My gobys ran the tanks most times but would not bother fish to much if they stayed out the way but the rtc were hell on the walking cats( another fish overated for aggression) the clown knives and the snake heads always had to remove the rtc as they were a real PITA.

And im no expert either just had enough to know they arent gonna take over a 240 from a rtc, you can get one of any kind of fish that can be super agro but that doesnt speak for the species as a whole. Thats why u cant own one fish and start giving temperment advice you have to have multiple fish to get a general idea of the temperment of a species. You can always give your experience but a lot of people need to slow down a lot of false info gets passed around.

You have some mild Gibbiceps then SharpTooth. Mine has already killed 3 fish (a sailfin molly, an angelfish, and a whiptail cat) and he's only 6" now. I think in a 240 they'd pretty much murder each other.

I know mine holds it's own with a midas and managuense breeding pair. Not that I doubt what is being said about the rtc, but I keep hearing dovii is the fish that has to have a tank by itself, then I hear the same thing about an rtc, next a betta (LOL), but seriously there has to be something that can hold it's own, even in a bigger tank. Not that I doubt what you guys are saying, I've never had one & I'm not looking to hear anything but different experiences. It's just that there's a small one on ebay for $12 and I do like the way that they look, like a giant red-tail shark. If it is only a 1 fish per tank deal then I may have to look at something else, especially if it's just going to hide all day and night.

I was able to keep a rtc with a asian aro withouth fighting but they outgrew the tank, all my biggest tanks have always had MARBLE SLEEPER GOBYS they take the best hiding spots so the rtc are always forced to roam the tank and they seem to take their anger out on the other fish. I think you would be ok with something that stays out the way of the rtc and doesent directly compete for space and food. Plecos like to hide and the rtc is gonna fight fish that come in its domain. Last a lot of people seem to underestimate the size rtc can get these are very big territorial catfish with huge mouths.

My lfs carries rtc all the time for like 5 bucks and there is almost always a tank full of beat up catfish from constantly fighting each other.
