I am pretty fuzzy on the differences between maydelli and wyckioides. I didn't even realize maydelli can have reddishness in their tails too: https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=4392
Wyckioides tail seems significantly more saturated red color: https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?task=&species_id=19
But of course maydelli is an Indian fish. If there is little or no transplanting or cross-contamination going from India to Thailand when it comes to these fish, then the fish origin should be a reliable pointer whether it is a maydelli or wyckioides for starters.
