Hey

Does anyone know anything on the care, feeding, etc of Asian Vine Snakes. They are fascinating and are very pretty. Anything goes! Feel free to post pics if you have any yourself!:headbang2

I know there gecko eaters by nature and rear fanged . not much else since i don't keep lizard eaters but heard a few manage to get them to eat scented pinks.

They are delicate, rear fanged and picky. Most of them will only eat scented mice or lizards. Otherwise the care is similar to amazon tree boa (as far as temps and humidity go). Some of them will switch over to unscented mice but it takes a lot of time and work for that.

If they were easier id be all over them as well, a very beautiful species.

If I set up a habitat as if it was setup for an ATB you think it would work? I want to try something more challenging. And if you do feed it lizards do you do the same routine as mice, one anole once a week or how does it go?

lizards always make for pricey feeders if you are not breeding your own, however there are plenty of easy to breed gecko species that make great feeders for most lizard eating snakes if you are going to go that route. Mourning geckos are usually a good bet for that (that is what I am planning for a future lizard eater I plan to have)
You should be able to follow the same feeding schedule as you normally would... not entirely sure just how big vine snakes get but if I recall they can get pretty lengthy and might require more than one lizard a week if you are only keeping smaller lizard species (like the mourning geckos)

thanks they get about 4 feet but are very slender. I heard 2 lizards a week, does that sound correct?

2 per adult male, maybe 3 or 4 for large females. Lots of heat and humidity. You'll want a basking area around 90 to 95, with humidity around 80%. They are prone to skin infections and heavy parasite loads. They're probably one of the easiest snakes to breed and raise if you have lizards on hand. I found brown or green anoles to be an excellent food item. They will take fish as well.. Kinda fun to watch the juvies take little guppies.

I heard they where very difficult to get eatting fish? hince why i dont have one. done alot of research on them but its just difficult to deal with the lizards
