Some big, nasty cichlids!! I've had both and I'll always go with cichlids!
 
i understand theres such thing as overstocking but thats INSANE that you guys say i would need 500g to hold 18-24 red bellies....i got two aquaclear 110's and a large airstone constantly going to keep the water moving for airation...i do a 40%-50% WC every week. im sorry but i strongly disagree with you guys.

I hate the way pirahnas are so anti-climactic. They are super timid and scatter at the slightest movements outside the tank. Worse than bala sharks IMO = /
 
The number of piranhas suggested is too much for a 180g. Get cichlids.
 
sa/ca tank! would look so much better than a tank full of p's.
 
If you want looks then go for the cichlids. If you want something that is really fun t watch feed but other then that they are prety shy go with Ps. Also if you do go with Ps don't getthe many get 15TOPS and still plan on deaths to thin them out or plan to sell some off when they gett big.
 
i'm not a fan of either, but i think the cichlids are better looking ad more interesting to watch.
