Asking all you Frontosa loving MFK'ers for some help sourcing quality Frontosa.....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Personally I have never ordered from Sicichlids, but I have heard great feedback about him. Definately a source worth looking into. There is many good suppliers and a few not to be mentioned. Just remember, a few negative feedbacks can also be people who never can be satisfied. I would e-mail anyone who you plan to buy from and make your decision from your own experience with them.

OP, I too am from NYC, brooklyn to be exact. try Pacific aQUARIUM ON DELANCEY STREET they have a large selection of Frontosa.

bluechip is going out of business, at least for now(either way i wouldnt suggest them). if you want rare and quality frontosas go with Zaires. moba kitumba mikula. my main fish i keep is frontosa, i would suggest buying from Greg at Little Africa Aquatics. he should be getting some moba and kitumba in september. big and wild caught.

www.cichlids.net is atlantis. ive bought wc peacocks from them. good place to get fish from as well.
Thanx alot bro, I appreciate the help and will definitely check them out next time I plan on getting some African cichlids which will be soon :D

He's in Staten Island. I just checked his stocklist and he has Mpimbwe. Good luck!
Thanx alot bro, I appreciate the information and you wishing me good luck. Thankfully it already worked I've got my hands on a small trio of Mpimbwe male is at least 6 inches and the females around 4 inches.

Thanx bro, that's sound advice and I always try to get as much info. first about the vendors this way hopefully I weed out some of the bad ones and make my search a little easier.

Thanx bro, I'll be sure to look into Little Africa Aquatics though I already started with a trio of Mpimbwe and am looking for another 3 as I of course don't want to mix Front's and muddy up the bloodlines. I still will be looking for more quality African cichlids soon.

Thanx bro, I'll definitely give them a look, convenience and not having to pay shipping go along way if the fish are quality specimens in my decision making.

Sincerely I'd like to thank everyone for their help and suggestions , it says alot about a hobbyist when they're so willing to help others. It really makes a difference when info. is spread so easily among fishkeepers, hopefully helping teach everyone about general maintenance, husbandry and in this case making sure vendors who sell quality fish get their rightful respect and business. Which believe it or not helps the hobby as a whole by helping to make sure the stock available to us and new keepers are of good quality and that inferior specimens and vendors hopefully get weeded out of the hobby. As always info. is power and we should make sure to use that power to help ourselves and others. As it stands right now I'm trying to get a Frontosa comm. with Mpimbwe going and so far I'm off to a good start with these three. Already they're growing on me. I absolutely love how personable they are and how surprisingly out going they are. I was under the impression that Front's are shy and retiring personality wise, but these three must be the exception that proves the rule. The first day they endured a 4 hour ride being bounced around in a styrofoam box and still seemed undaunted by the experience. While floating them and using a drip to acclimate them slowly they where at ease enough to eat. Normally I wait a day or two before feeding a new arrival. However they were going into a established tank with Silver Dollar's(temporary) and when I began to feed the SD's the Front's tried very eagerly to get at the food. So I decided to throw some sinking pellets in their bags and see if they would eat a little. To my surprise they did, as a matter of fact presently they are the only fish I've ever had that ate while still bagged or even showed any interest in food while bagged. I've had fish eat the same day as they were brought home, but never bagged like that. Immediately I was impressed and taken with these little guys. So thanx again for all the help guys, you should be seeing alot more of me on here soon. Also feel free to ask me any questions if your into Gars, Armatus(Vampire Tetra's), Curupira(Black Wloves) and CA/SA cichlids and need some help as I'm fairly well experienced in these fish and would elcome the opportunity to return the favor.

I got them from Valley Aquatics and I'm seriously happy with both the size and appearance of these guys. Alot of vendors are very generous when sizing their fish. Lol! I've had more than a couple say 6 inch and when I see it in person I'm severly disappointed. How ever if anything I'd say Steve(Valley Aquatics) underestimated the fish size he was giving me and he's a really cool dude to boot.

That is just the feedback I was wanting to hear. I got an email from Steve about a batch of W/C tropheus he just got in and this morning placed an order from him. I have heard from two members that his fish are solid. When you buy stuff sight unseen it's good to know that others are vouching for the vendor. That says a lot!

I am stoked, I have been needing a BIG male for a while now, and he says in 10 days they'll be out of quarantine and ready to ship.

Good luck with your Fronts man, and thanks for the vendor feedback!
will
