asking the wrong questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It could be in some cases, I stress some cases, that maybe the newbies have done the research and just have not found anything about the size of the fish and tanks. I am a newbie and that is what I had problems finding out on the fish I wanted. I could find everything but how big a tank they needed and when I did get suggestions I looked up the other info.
I am saying that all newbies do this but maybe they do.

I was once guilty of the same thing, but thanks to MFK I have changed my views.
We should all just remember to do our best to share the love and EDUCATE:)

:clap Word up, my thoughts exactly.............I learn tons of new info every day thanks to MFK.............I was once "fish retarted"..........not as bad as the walmart employees in our other fine thread but...............hahahaha!!!!!:D

I agree, there are many aspiring Bonsai fishkeepers out there. All we can do is continue to educate people. There will always be those who put themselves before the fish, and we have to deal with it. It sucks, but it will always happen. I personally don't understand why people try and shove big fish into small tanks. There is a fish for every tank. If you have a 20g, get Shellies, not an O.;)

its not necissarily bad. if I see something cool at the store, or in the wild (i can legally keep non-endagered natives where i live), I want to start researching it. Never mind what it eats - what size tank do I need, it is even realistic to think about keeping? Oh great, it will be fine in my 10... so now... what does it eat, and like, etc?

I don't think there is a wrong question when asking about information about fish. Reading and answering questions of "is certain fish going to fit a certain size aquarium" does get redundant especially when you can google or use the search function to find the info you need right away. But the important thing is that the person is doing research before they buy the fish. Fish have different growth rates too so some fish you can probably keep in a smaller tank than it would need eventually after so many years whearas others need a larger tank right away.
