Hey everyone,
I know some of you keep turtles, tortoises, horses, snakes, birds, and small mammals on the cite so i figured i'd let you in on a little secret. the ASPCA always has a ton of great and rare animals. I think it to be kinda rediculous that some of you buy extremely expensive animals when you can get the same thing for only a small adoption fee. I posted a link under this and if you type in your zip code at the bottom of the middle inserty-scrolly-thingy it will give you a listing of all the animals available in your area. You'd be surprised by what they have. They're got macaws and monitors and ball pythos and degus and so much more so check it out and before you spend $700 on an animal, save some money and a life and adopt. BTW for those of you who don't know Petco and maybe Petsmart too but im not sure, also adopts out animals. So ADOPT FIRST!!!!

Nothing near me. :( But thanks for the post and the link! Hopefully someone will take advantage of it, for themselves, and for the poor animals.

yea it kind of gets me angry when people come on here and say they payed upwards of $200 for a lizard or snake when they can have one for a $50 adoption fee

this is very good info... i am sure alot of people including myself are not aware that they can adopt these kinds of animals as well as the more common ones...

I think most people gladly spend 200 dollars on an animal because they buy them when they are young so they can raise them. I know I don't want to purchase an already full grown animal. Takes the fun out of raising them.

I'm a big fan of adoption/rescue. All my cats, all my herps, and a few of my fish were all adopted from the Humane Society or private parties.

I'll have to check that site from time to time.

I was just about to post something like this :D

I do remember there being fish, a baby Sav. and green iguana and a few juvi turtles.
Once there was a juvi sulcata Tort.
Not to mention all of the small animals (hedgehogs, hamsters, rats, mice, rabbits of all breeds, and ferrets) that my SPCA has.
And that's just the SPCA, not all of the other rescue groups around here.
