Maybe for cats and dogs. But when I search reptiles all I get is an adult red eared slider. Maybe its just me but I don't think a breeder would dump their juvi reptiles off for free at the ASPCA.
Really? I got sculatta, redfoot, and african spurred torts, a savannah monitor, columbian ted tail boas, ball pythons, kingsnakes, etc.

yeah, im amazed at the number of purebred dogs and cats at the pound. its sad that most of the time its nothing the pet did, but that the owner got bored with it, got sick of caring for it, suddenly became "allergic" to it, or decided to move.

btw, my local petstore is a petsmart. they DO buy puppies from mills. I know a woman who breeds her same female boxer over and over and sells the pups to them-they buy them and sell them for a godawful amount.

remember, if an animal is "AKC" registered it doesnt guarantee you are getting good stock-or genetics. NBC Dateline did a special years ago where they registered a litter of kittens as full bred boxers, then exposed themselves.

the AKC never, ever sees the animal being registered-the owner just pays a fee.

so to me, it doesnt mean crap if something is AKC registered or not-

bump, all the herp and bird keepers should know. plus im planning on getting one or two african spurred torts this summer from them so ill let you know how it goes

Bump for a great thread. Thanks for sharing thi. I has no idea the aspca adopted all kinds of animals. Unfortunately none of the offices are near me, but i will keep an eye on the sight.. I am willing to make a special trip to give an animal a great home.

I agree with everyone. Theres ALOT of great animals out there they need to be adopted. Not many people know that they can find good stuff and save alot of money, and save an animals life in the process.

I adopted (2) Ferrets once when I was living in PA (They are illegal in CA). So I really wanted them. I picked up (2) of them, 1 male 1 female. They had all shots, they were fixed too etc. She even gave me some supplies like food and toys and other stuff. I would have paid I think like 20 bucks each in fees to adopt, but the lady gave them free of charge. Which was something they dont always do.

theyres a lot of iguanas on there. i feel bad too cus theres a savannah monitor near me and i want him but i cant afford the adoption fee. it sucks because aparently hes been with them for a couple years. i probably shouldn't anyway, it'd eat my cat

bump for adopting one more homeless ownerless animal... they are waiting for you ... so if you have the room and the willingness to provide please do so... now more then ever their are so many waiting...:(
