Hi everyone, I've had 4 multi shell dwellers in my 10 gallon for about 2 and a half months. The tank already had assassin snails in it that I didn't bother to remove before putting the shellies in. I'm almost certain I have 1 male and at least 2 females multies.

From what I've read, these guys breed like crazy but I haven't seen any results so far. My water parameters are: Temp-78, pH-8.2, ammonia-0, nitrites-0, nitrates-3-6. Seems like they're about perfect.

My fear is that it may be the assassin snails eating the eggs or something. The multies are supposed to be very protective of their eggs and mine all stay around their shells, but I have seen some assassins lurk around the outside on top of the shells.

Does anyone know if this may be the case? I don't want to remove them because they're an interesting snail but I also want to raise a colony of multies.

Thank you for any advice.

I haven't noticed an issue with Assassin snails munching on any shelly eggs in my tanks, rather the fish will pick up the snails and relocate them elsewhere.

Two and a half months isn't that long to settle in the Multies so you just need to be patient.

How large were they when you got them?

Shellies (including multifasciatus) are shrunken BEASTS. They are very protective of they're eggs, even to the extent of protecting them from fish 5 times they're size. I doubt they'll let assassins get there.

Sorry for being a few days late to reply I've been super busy. Thank you for the replies.

I figured they'd be super protective, but everyone says they breed like crazy so I guess I'm just getting anxious.

When I got them, one was 1.5 inches and the rest were about .5 inches. They've all grown a decent amount.
