Assorted Haplochromis

well i love to get assorted from the cichlid families and the suckercatfish

as they look such great in different kinds ... colors .. u know like u r making a new community tank is one step lol

if you are going with assorted haps you will need at least a 180 gallon tank. a venustus gets 9 inches long, and most haps reach that much, and top out at around a foot in size.

research what you like, the venustus is a good start IF you have a large enough tank. Personally, i would mix a few haps in with all male peacocks in a 180 gallon tank.

i had a male 9 inch Venustus in a 90 gallon by himself -he would NOT tolerate any tankmates-he would just kill them and leave them for dead.
 
Get yourself a nice 180-220gal tank and stock it with large haps, I mean the predatory ones :) ...only males, to keep the raging hormones in check.

i had a cool idea yesterday ...

1600 L ( 400 G ) tank with both assorted Africans and couple of rays

what do u think ?
 
second that-rays wouldnt mix with africans.

Bubba is quite handsome btw Marius! hes a BIG boy!

i agree that a large tank with lots of BIG haps... that would look great! and males only. i wish i had a big enough tank for JUST haps.. but i think youd need a 225 or so.. really big.
 
No rays...

Different parms. Assorted anthing is a crap shoot.
