Well ... and a bichir which does not like to be photoed ^^

Sorry for the discolored water. The water params are fine ... just the color is abit of.

Note that both paima's got humps on their back. These humps were there already cos when my mom and my cousin when to LFS to replace my paima that was munched by RTC they did not know what to look for - i did not have the heart to tell them that the fish was defective (and no bring it back was not an option ... well, it is but too much hassle and possibly hurt mom's feelings). In any case, as they grow - the hump seems to be lessening. I hope that it will dissapear on the one that still have it.

After couple of months - the hump started to dissapear on one :naughty:. See the remaining's hump in the second pic of OP

Do you think the humps have anything to do with tank size? How long have you had them? Ive heard they grow pretty fast..

No, i don't think it has anything to do with the tank size. They were like that at the LFS. When i got these they were ~5" with humps (i have seen them at that particular LFS i just did not think my mom would go and buy them) - i had to hide my dissappointment quite hard ^^ i was very tempted to feed them to RTCs

I had them since about the time RTC munched my other paima (there is a thread on that). As they grew, one started to have the hump less pronounced. I hope the other one follows the suite. I cannot quite imagine it fully grown with a hump like that ...

i love them its just a shame they get sooooooo big

Very nice.. if they were shorter they'd be SB.. but must be a farm bred deformitie..

Can't wait for these two catch up with the third one (moved away already - no hump ^^). But i think they will grow-up one by one and not at the same time. There is always a dominant one that basically hogs all the food

Yeah, i know. These should be definitely farm bred. When i asked the keeper he said that he thought my mom was gonna put them in a pond so the hump is not so visible. He did agree to take them back, but i consider it to be too much hassle. Anyway, he did give a discount ^^ ... still....
