Astatheros crossbreed? Group size?

You shouldn't have a any problems with cross breading. Your 180 should be fine to keep two different groups. I wouldn't keep any parachromis with them as stated above. The thorichthys on the other hand should be fine. I currently keep 4 nourisatti and 9 rostratus together in a 300g. They're all between 5" and 6.5"

I am on the hunt for a group of nourisatti. The pictures I have seen are gorgeous! I have only ever been a SA keeper and with the exception of a brief period of Cryptoheros panamensis keeping, the 3 Astatheros rhytisma I have are my first CAs and I love them.

I've had the opposite experience. My loisellie is good and ignores my robertsoni and rostratus. I've had to remove ellioti and meeki because of my robertsoni being too aggressive. I think it comes down to conspecific aggression which thorichthys are competition being substrate sifters.
