Astronotus crassipinnis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They're different species; Astronotus crassipinnis vs. Astronotus ocellatus.

If it was a subspecies the name would be Astronotus ocellatus ocellatus or Astronotus ssp. ocellatus.

Does anyone know where I can get some???? Its sorta like I would really like to have a couple of Os, but I refuse to own them just cause they are soo friggin common and everyone and their sister has them. Sounds like the next best thing right, an oscars closest kin that nobody really has........

Ocassionaly some importers get them. Try some online vendors. Honestly though some probaly already came in as occellatus & where hybridized before people paid attention to the differences. occellatus can get 16" too but rarely do. Ask you LFS if their vendor can get some crassipinnis
